Yes, you can use a PoE injector / local PSU to boost the power output to the IP endpoint. There are two types are adapters available, the PoE negotiating and the non-negotiating kind.
Using the FLEX-C adapter
By removing pins 4,5 and 7,8 (blue and brown pairs) you can physically cut out power delivery from a non-negotiating adapter like the FLEX-C. The image beneath shows this modification. As you can see, the blue and brown pairs have been cut while the orange and green pairs remain intact.
It is always a good idea to cut the wires twice to introduce some physical separation between the wire ends to prevent any accidental shorts.
We recommend a physical cut like this rather than terminating the RJ45 with only 2 of the 4 pairs as the RJ45 crimping mechanism has been designed to crimp onto a certain amount of material. If the wires are not there, you may end up with weaker terminations. Note that after having modified a cable like this, it is always recommended to use electrical tape to close up the opened-up cable section and to label the modification appropriately for the future.
Using the FLEX-LINK adapter
If you are using the FLEX-LINK adapter, then no such changes are required. The adapter will negotiate with the Local PSU/PoE injector.
