The FLEX-C adapter is a passive PoE device that necessitates an initial PoE negotiation for activation. When connected to a PoE-requiring device, the FLEX-C initiates and operates seamlessly with the other endpoint. However, in the absence of PoE negotiation, the adapters remain inactive.
As a temporary solution, connecting a FLEX-C to a PoE device and subsequently switching back to non-PoE devices can transiently resolve the issue, commonly referred to as 'popping the clutch.'
For a more permanent resolution, especially with non-PoE devices, it is recommended to use the FLEX-Link adapter. The FLEX-Link adapter engages in auto-negotiation and can discern when a connected device does not demand PoE while staying active.
